FAA History Hardback Book

This was one of my first “BIG” projects as a fledgling designer. The client was the leader of the Florida sect. of the Future Farmers of America. I remember him coming in the office with multiple plastic tubs of handwritten scribbles, newspaper clippings, and faded photographs. He told me he wanted an actual history book to give out to all the Florida members. When a coworker suggested that he put all this information on a CD he replied, ” A lot of the members are elderly now, and and I want to give them something they can look at a reminisce.”

I came up with a scrapbook concept idea. For the background, I used a photo of tea stained paper. I scanned the photos and newspaper cutouts but kept their antique appearance. To make the pieces appear dimensional, I made semi-transparent rectangle shapes (in Photoshop) to resemble Scotch tape and dark triangles to resemble photo scrapbook corners.
